Clinical information
In Wilson’s disease, the concentration of copper in the serum may be reduced; by contrast, the concentration of free copper – that which is not bound to proteins (ceruloplasmin) – is elevated. Free copper is a more sensitive indicator of Wilson’s disease than total copper.
