BCR-ABL fusion transcript, quantitative (Philadelphia chromosome)

Material & Volume

EDTA Blood, 10ml

Blood collection from Monday to Wednesday; samples must arrive at the laboratory by Thursday at the latest.

Clinical information

Quantitative BCR::ABL1 analysis is used for monitoring patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) and a known BCR::ABL1 fusion transcript (p210 or p190). Repeated measurements allow the response to treatment to be assessed and show whether the amount of BCR::ABL1 transcript decreases, remains stable or increases over time.

Defined thresholds can be used to assess different levels of molecular response, including major molecular response (MMR). The test is used to monitor patients during treatment and can directly influence treatment decisions.

Monitoring should be tailored to the BCR::ABL1 transcript type identified at initial diagnosis (see 8196 BCR-ABL fusion transcript, qualitative (Philadelphia chromosome).
