Explicitly light-protected material is not necessary for this analysis. Until shipment, the samples must be protected from direct sunlight (storage on window sills should be avoided). The samples can be stored in the shipping bags (M112) without light protection until shipment.

Lycopene is a nutrition supplement and foodstuffsʼ colorant of the ‘carotinoideʼ group. Tomatoes for example are coloured by this substance. It cannot be synthetized by the human organism and has therefore to be absorbed by ingestion, more precisely of vegetable nutrients. Lycopene has primarily antioxidant und photo-protective properties.
